Field-by-field comparison

Compare the evidence before choosing an MCP.

Each signal stays separate, missing facts remain visible, and the column order follows your selection.

Task fit
Best for
  • Debugging Cypress Cloud runs, failed tests, flaky tests, UI Coverage, and accessibility results without leaving the coding client
  • Teams that want a first-party hosted MCP with user-scoped access and revocable authentication
  • Code-quality and application-security investigation with optional controlled project operations.
Not ideal for
  • Teams that do not use Cypress Cloud
  • Workflows that need to modify tests, delete runs, or control CI through the MCP itself
  • Teams outside the publisher ecosystem or without least-privilege credentials
Avoid when
  • Your organization cannot allow an AI client to read Cypress Cloud test data
  • You cannot use OAuth or safely manage a dedicated Cypress MCP personal access token
  • The connected identity is broader than the task requires
  • Tool calls cannot be reviewed before consequential mutations

Access and data
AuthenticationOAuth is recommended. Supported clients use browser sign-in and an automatically managed 30-day session. A Cypress MCP personal access token is available for clients that cannot use OAuth. The server uses publisher-documented Sonar tokens or managed HTTP authentication.
CostCloud MCP is included at no additional cost on all Cypress Cloud plans, including Starter. Current usage limit is 100 tool requests per hour; underlying Cypress Cloud plan/product availability and data retention still apply. The MCP integration has no separately verified MCP100 price conclusion. Publisher subscriptions, API usage, compute, storage, and AI-client charges may apply.
PermissionsAccess is scoped to the authenticated Cypress Cloud user's existing roles and permissions in MCP-enabled organizations. Organization admins can disable the integration for the whole organization. OAuth sessions can be individually revoked.SonarQube or SonarCloud token permissions, toolsets, and read-only mode constrain accessible projects and actions.
Data handlingThe MCP returns Cypress Cloud test/run data such as run summaries, failed-test details, stack traces, Test Replay links, flake data, accessibility reports, and UI Coverage data. Cypress states that it receives tool-call inputs, not the user's AI conversation, and that returned Cypress data is not used to train or improve an LLM.Authorized service data and tool results pass through the MCP server to the connected AI client. Review the publisher and client data policies before using sensitive security & testing information.
Limitations
Tradeoffs
  • The server is deliberately read-oriented, which lowers blast radius but also means fixes still happen in your local code or other tools
  • Some tools depend on paid Cypress Cloud products or plan-specific data, and usage is rate-limited
  • Source findings and code excerpts can be sensitive; mutation tools should remain disabled unless required.
Risk contextLow to medium. The production data tools are read-oriented and user-scoped, but they can expose sensitive test/CI information to the connected AI client. The feedback tool sends feedback to Cypress, so the surface is not literally side-effect-free even though it cannot modify test code or delete runs.Source findings and code excerpts can be sensitive; mutation tools should remain disabled unless required. Use a test environment where practical, least-privilege credentials, narrowly enabled tools, and explicit confirmation for mutations. MCP100 did not execute third-party server code during this documentation review.
