Field-by-field comparison

Compare the evidence before choosing an MCP.

Each signal stays separate, missing facts remain visible, and the column order follows your selection.

Task fit
Best for
  • Search, read, create, and edit Lucid visual documents
  • Lucid users who need to search, read, create, and edit lucid visual documents.
  • SEO analysis across Search Console properties, queries, pages, indexing status, and sitemaps
Not ideal for
  • The default endpoint permits supported writes; use https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp/readonly for discovery-only access. Lucid MCP is not available for FedRAMP accounts, and a separate repositories endpoint serves different workflows.
  • General web analytics or SEO work that does not use Google Search Console data
Avoid when

Access and data
AuthenticationOAuth by default; Lucid Team and Enterprise users can also authenticate with an API key.Uses Google OAuth client-secrets JSON and browser login, or a Google service-account JSON whose email has access to the Search Console property.
CostNo separate MCP fee is documented. Lucid offers free and paid plans; account/product capabilities depend on the selected plan. The MIT-licensed server lists no MCP fee. Google Cloud or Search Console quota and billing implications are not documented.
PermissionsThe MCP can access only documents the authenticated user already has permission to access within the Lucid account; it cannot access documents owned by users outside that account.Lists Google Search Console properties and reads analytics, URL inspection, and sitemap data. Site and sitemap add/delete tools are disabled unless GSC_ALLOW_DESTRUCTIVE=true.
Data handlingLucid states that its MCP server acts as a pass-through and does not retain document content, user prompts, or queries. User credentials are not shared outside the Lucid account.Search Console properties, queries, pages, crawl and indexing results, and sitemap data are returned to the connected client. OAuth tokens are saved for reuse; service-account JSON is read from a configured path. Further retention is not documented.
Limitations
Tradeoffs
  • Shortlist evidence is sufficient for identity, setup and task value; authenticated runtime tool-schema measurement and exhaustive security certification remain out of scope.
  • It reduces manual reporting work, but the assistant can see sensitive search-performance data and optional destructive site or sitemap operations require an explicit flag.
Risk contextThe MCP can expose and operate on diagrams/documents the user can access. The main risk is unintended disclosure or modification of collaborative Lucid content within the user's existing permissions. Can expose private Search Console data and, when explicitly enabled, modify sites or sitemaps. Protect credential files, leave destructive tools disabled unless required, and restrict remote SSE deployments.
