Limitations
Tradeoffs
  • Inspector can reveal and invoke real server capabilities, so usefulness comes with the same side-effect risk as the target server
  • It is a development/debugging tool, not an isolation sandbox
  • The hosted server keeps upstream Sentry credentials server-side and narrows sessions by skills and paths, but requests broad upstream scopes.
  • AI-powered natural-language search may invoke an embedded model/provider; stdio self-hosting requires separate provider keys for those tools.
  • Self-hosted Sentry may lack features such as Seer and needs explicit skill disabling.
Risk contextHigh operational caution. Use test accounts or isolated environments when inspecting unknown or write-capable servers; do not assume rollback or sandboxing.Production error telemetry often contains sensitive values, while upstream OAuth scopes include write capabilities. Prefer a project-constrained hosted URL, minimal granted skills, human approval for mutations, and prior telemetry scrubbing.
