Field-by-field comparison

Compare the evidence before choosing an MCP.

Each signal stays separate, missing facts remain visible, and the column order follows your selection.

MCPs in this comparison

Uncheck an MCP to remove it. Comparing two or three keeps each signal in its own row.

Task fit
Best for
  • Aggregating CVE, exploit, KEV, EPSS, and related security context from the project's supported sources
  • Human-in-the-loop issue, event, trace, and performance investigation
  • Coding agents working on one constrained Sentry project
  • Teams using the supported hosted OAuth service
Not ideal for
  • Asset-specific risk acceptance, guaranteed-complete vulnerability scanning, or automated remediation
  • General-purpose Sentry administration
  • Unattended remediation against production
  • Self-hosted users unwilling to configure tokens and optional LLM providers
Avoid when
  • A downstream workflow would act on the aggregated result without checking product versions and primary advisory details
  • Error payloads may contain secrets or personal data that cannot be shown to the model/client
  • You cannot constrain the session to the intended organization/project
  • The requested OAuth scopes or write-capable skills exceed policy

Access and data
AuthenticationOptional provider API keys are supplied through environment variables, while many sources work without keys. MCP HTTP client authentication is not documented. The hosted service uses MCP OAuth layered over Sentry OAuth; raw Sentry credentials stay server-side. Stdio uses a Sentry user auth token and may also require OpenAI or Anthropic credentials for AI-powered search.
CostThe open-source server lists many free or no-key sources. Optional provider APIs can impose separate charges or limits; no complete service price is documented. The repository is source-available under its published license and the hosted MCP has no separately documented fee in the reviewed sources. Normal Sentry plan/usage, Seer, and external LLM-provider charges may apply.
PermissionsQueries CVE, IP, domain, hash, package, malware, threat-intelligence, and code-search providers; maintains local cache and audit data. URLScan submission is the documented write-like exception.Hosted OAuth requests org:read, project:write, team:write, and event:write upstream, then narrows exposed actions through granted MCP skills and optional /mcp/:org/:project resource paths. Stdio documentation lists org/project/team read/write and event write token scopes.
Data handlingCVE IDs, IPs, hashes, domains, and package names can be sent to external APIs, and responses are cached in local SQLite. The publisher says API keys and response payloads are excluded from audit logs; no telemetry and no inbound ports are documented.Issue, event, trace, release, team, project, and related telemetry may be returned to the MCP client. Hosted mode stores upstream OAuth credentials in encrypted grant properties and gives the client a separate MCP token. AI search tools may process query/event context through configured model infrastructure.
Limitations
Tradeoffs
  • One interface can speed triage across many APIs, but upstream coverage, rate limits, identifiers, and freshness differ and can produce conflicting evidence.
  • The hosted server keeps upstream Sentry credentials server-side and narrows sessions by skills and paths, but requests broad upstream scopes.
  • AI-powered natural-language search may invoke an embedded model/provider; stdio self-hosting requires separate provider keys for those tools.
  • Self-hosted Sentry may lack features such as Seer and needs explicit skill disabling.
Risk contextBroad external intelligence fan-out sends queried indicators off-host; URLScan can submit URLs, and HTTP mode can expose a service endpoint. Keep queries non-sensitive where possible, preserve the documented private-IP blocking, and restrict HTTP exposure.Production error telemetry often contains sensitive values, while upstream OAuth scopes include write capabilities. Prefer a project-constrained hosted URL, minimal granted skills, human approval for mutations, and prior telemetry scrubbing.
