Field-by-field comparison

Compare the evidence before choosing an MCP.

Each signal stays separate, missing facts remain visible, and the column order follows your selection.

Uncheck an MCP to remove it. Comparing two or three keeps each signal in its own row.

Task fit
Best for
  • SmartBear customers who need supported Swagger, BugSnag, Zephyr or other SmartBear product workflows from one official MCP suite.
  • Human-in-the-loop issue, event, trace, and performance investigation
  • Coding agents working on one constrained Sentry project
  • Teams using the supported hosted OAuth service
Not ideal for
  • Users who expect identical authentication/tools across every SmartBear product.
  • General-purpose Sentry administration
  • Unattended remediation against production
  • Self-hosted users unwilling to configure tokens and optional LLM providers
Avoid when
  • Do not reuse broad product API tokens across products or environments when narrower product-specific authorization is available.
  • Error payloads may contain secrets or personal data that cannot be shown to the model/client
  • You cannot constrain the session to the intended organization/project
  • The requested OAuth scopes or write-capable skills exceed policy

Access and data
AuthenticationVaries by product: selected hosted endpoints use OAuth, while local package integrations use the relevant SmartBear product API token. The hosted service uses MCP OAuth layered over Sentry OAuth; raw Sentry credentials stay server-side. Stdio uses a Sentry user auth token and may also require OpenAI or Anthropic credentials for AI-powered search.
CostApplicable SmartBear product subscriptions/API limits and model/provider costs apply. The repository is source-available under its published license and the hosted MCP has no separately documented fee in the reviewed sources. Normal Sentry plan/usage, Seer, and external LLM-provider charges may apply.
PermissionsPermissions and mutation authority are product-specific and follow the connected account/token.Hosted OAuth requests org:read, project:write, team:write, and event:write upstream, then narrows exposed actions through granted MCP skills and optional /mcp/:org/:project resource paths. Stdio documentation lists org/project/team read/write and event write token scopes.
Data handlingAPI specifications, errors, testing/project data and other product context can be shared with the connected AI client/provider.Issue, event, trace, release, team, project, and related telemetry may be returned to the MCP client. Hosted mode stores upstream OAuth credentials in encrypted grant properties and gives the client a separate MCP token. AI search tools may process query/event context through configured model infrastructure.
Limitations
Tradeoffs
  • Promoted after strict re-audit: canonical identity and MCP-native/publisher-backed implementation are sufficiently evidenced, with real workflow value, usable documentation, understandable permissions, plausible maintenance, and no unresolved security veto. Still not strong enough for Selected.
  • The hosted server keeps upstream Sentry credentials server-side and narrows sessions by skills and paths, but requests broad upstream scopes.
  • AI-powered natural-language search may invoke an embedded model/provider; stdio self-hosting requires separate provider keys for those tools.
  • Self-hosted Sentry may lack features such as Seer and needs explicit skill disabling.
Risk contextMulti-product breadth makes per-product identity, scope and write authority easy to overgeneralize; bind exact product evidence.Production error telemetry often contains sensitive values, while upstream OAuth scopes include write capabilities. Prefer a project-constrained hosted URL, minimal granted skills, human approval for mutations, and prior telemetry scrubbing.
