Install / connect
Publisher instructionsExcelMcp automates actual desktop Microsoft Excel using MCP.
publisher documented install or connect · Publisher instructions
npx -y @sbroenne/mcp-server-excel@latest --versionpublisher documented install or connect · Publisher instructions
npx add-mcp "npx -y @sbroenne/mcp-server-excel@latest" --name excel-mcpConfigure / authenticate
MCP100 setup guideWindows 10+, installed desktop Microsoft Excel 2016+, interactive signed-in Windows user, Node 18+ for npx. Alternative: install ExcelMcp VS Code extension, Claude Desktop .mcpb, or manual client JSON (`command`: `npx`, args `-y`, `@sbroenne/mcp-server-excel@latest`). Keep ExcelMcp CLI a separate optional install.
Check connection
Suggested checkFirst `npx -y @sbroenne/mcp-server-excel@latest --version`, then client tools discovery, then publisher sample `Create an empty Excel file called test.xlsx` in an explicitly approved test location. The version command alone is not end-to-end connectivity.
Remove / uninstall / revoke
Publisher instructionsRemove `excel-mcp` from client MCP config. Claude Desktop MCPB: Settings > Extensions > Remove; VS Code: uninstall ExcelMcp extension; Copilot plugin: `copilot plugin uninstall excel-mcp@awesome-copilot`. For npx launches, no global npm uninstall is necessary. For NuGet use `dotnet tool uninstall --global Sbroenne.ExcelMcp.McpServer`. Never delete Excel workbooks.
Client unregistration, program uninstall, persistent-data deletion, and credential revocation must be treated separately.
Remove plugin · GitHub Copilot only · Publisher instructions
